Kalam Yatra is a journey organized by Agni Foundation in Marina Beach to pay a tribute and observe the 1st death anniversary of Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Sir who left us on 27th July 2015 at Shillong. The Yatra was to remember him on his death anniversary, though he might have had left us, but his dreams are still alive within us. The journey was to reignite his dreams. The journey of Kalam Yatra was actually started on 28th June 2016, at Agni College of Technology during the Agni Ignite Science Competition, season 2, event by lighting the torches placed on two vehicles, who went around and visited 32 Districts, 7000 Schools and collected signatures across Tamil Nadu.
Signature Campaign was organized, the journey of Kalam Yatra moved on and around 1,22,345 Lakh signatures were collected from across Tamil Nadu, and the Yatra was continued till 27th July 2016, in Marina Beach.
In this journey Agni Foundation collaborated with Bling Foundation and Agni College of Technology. Transportation was also provided for students who came and participated in Kalam Yatra in Marina Beach. The Yatra in Marina beach was started at 5.00pm in the evening, where many people participated including students and volunteers from Agni Foundation and Blink Foundation apart from this many other people also joined in Kalam Yatra. Participants walked 3kms, holding 3kms stretch banner which includes around 1,22,345 Lakh signatures. The whole Kalam Yatra event went off successfully and was under coverage of media. This is estimated to be the longest signature campaign to take record in the Limca Book of records.
